  • Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, I do have a cancellation policy. To maintain a fair and professional service, appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged. More information can be found within my terms and conditions, if you would like a copy please get in touch by email.
  • Do I need to choose between NHS and private therapy?
The simple answer is No. You are eligible to access support from the NHS while accessing private therapy. Speech & Language therapists have clear professional guidelines to ensure NHS and private therapists like myself work together. However, I will not share any information with your NHS therapist unless you give me your consent to do so.
  • I am worried but I am not sure if my child needs Speech & Language therapy, how can I find out?
I always say trust your instincts, as a parent you know your child best. If you are worried and you are not sure if your child needs support or therapy, please book in for a free call with myself. I offer a free, 15 minute, call giving you space to talk through your worries. I will give you advice on how I might be able to help, so that you can make an informed decision. Before the call you might find it helpful to jot down your main concerns and any examples of things that are worrying you. It may also be useful to speak to your child`s school, nursery or Health Visitor to help you decide if accessing a Speech and Language assessment and/or therapy is the right thing for you and your child.

  • What will happen during my first in-person appointment?
The first sessions are as much about discovering your child's strengths and interests as they are about identifying the support your child needs and understanding how to help them reach their communication goals. Before the appointment, I will ask you to fill out a questionnaire to gather information about your concerns and the type of support you’re seeking. During the Appointment: I may bring some activities and toys to the session, though this can vary. We’ll spend the first few minutes chatting and going through the information you've provided in advance. I will also take some time to quietly observe your child, which provides valuable insights for planning our next steps together. It would be helpful for me to see you engage in a typical activity with your child—something you both enjoy, such as reading a book, having a snack, or another comfortable routine. You might find it useful to think about an activity you’d like to do before I arrive. I’ll play some games with your child, and before the session ends, you’ll have the chance to ask any questions that may come up during our time together. To be as helpful as possible, please don't change your routine too much, for my visit. I want to know what you and your child normally do, and what they enjoy, things you need help with and observe their communication and routine as they typically happen. The session is primarily designed to build rapport and gather information about your child's communication skills, including their play, understanding, talking, speech sounds, social communication, interaction, and attention. I tailor the session based on your child's age and your specific concerns. My therapy approach is play-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and child-led. I will also ask you to play or carry out an activity with your child. The session is primarily designed to build rapport and gather information about your child's communication skills, including play, comprehension, speaking, speech sounds, social communication, interaction, and attention. I tailor each session to your child’s age and your specific concerns, using a play-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and child-led approach. I may also ask you to engage in an activity with your child. Throughout the session, I may ask questions, observe your child, watch you play with them, and take notes while interacting with both of you. There will be time for you to discuss any concerns and ask questions as well. You may find it helpful to write down any questions or concerns you’d like to discuss before the appointment
